4 Ways to Plump Skin, Naturally!
Plump skin? Yes, please!
If you’re suffering from a dull, lifeless complexion then you’ve come to the right place. Whether caused by sun exposure or aging, it’s not uncommon for your skin to lose its youthful glow. But fear not because it’s not lost forever. With a few tweaks to your daily routine, plump skin is just around the corner.
Check out our top four tips for plumping your skin naturally.
1. Drink Water
It might sound obvious, but plump skin is hydrated skin, and there is no better way to hydrate your body than with water. Volume in your skin is lost when you’re dehydrated, so to prevent this from happening, drink water throughout the day. Ideally, you should aim to drink roughly two litres of water each day, although this increases if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
2. Exfoliate Your Skin
Exfoliation is the first step to plumping your skin. Exfoliating helps to slough off dead skin cells, leaving your skin smooth and fresh. Depending on the sensitivity level of your skin, aim to exfoliate between one and three times per week. If a physical exfoliant, such as a sugar scrub, is too harsh, then opt for something gentler that contains alpha and/or beta hydroxy acids. By unclogging your pores with an exfoliant, the other skincare products you use, not to mention the proteins your body naturally produces, will have a clean canvas on which to work their magic.
3. Choose Skincare Ingredients Wisely
Our next piece of advice? Choose skincare products wisely. By this, we mean parse the labels of skincare products to ensure they’re natural, plant-based, and most importantly, contain ingredients known for their hydrating properties. There are two ingredients in particular to be on the lookout for: collagen and hyaluronic acid. Both occur naturally in our bodies but production becomes compromised as you age. As such, it’s important to supplement this natural loss of moisture with skincare products that contain them. Both collagen and hyaluronic acid help your skin absorb and retain water, which leads to a plump, hydrated, and youthful glow. Ideally, look for products that contain both like our Calming Collage Serum or Tonic.
4. Massage Your Face
This may sound a bit odd, but a fool-proof way of naturally plumping your skin is by massaging it. Believe it or not, massage stimulates the muscle tissue in your face, which helps improve your skin’s volume and elasticity. So to lift and sculpt your complexion, try gently massaging your own face. Plus, it feels amazing and may even help decrease stress and tension. You can go the old-fashioned route and use your own hands to massage, or try some beneficial facial yoga exercises.
